The Story

The park nobody built.

Early seventies. People started playing on land nobody was using. Someone painted lines. Someone brought a net. A retired electrician wired lights into a utility box. Somebody sold sandwiches.

Courts became concessions. Concessions became rides. Rides became departments. Eventually there was an amusement park that no person, company or agency could claim.

No permits. No owner. No closing time, because there was nobody to close it. Neighbors complained, so someone built a taller fence. The courts filled up, so someone built more courts. Rules showed up after the problems had already become traditions.

Dinksyland was the park nobody built, run by nobody, where everybody was a local.

The crest.

The crest was the park's public face. The gate, the concessions, the souvenir stand. Fresh Dinks Daily was painted over the service windows.

We're reissuing it. Three patches. Fifty hats each. When a collection is gone, it's gone.
